We might not have jetpacks but we’re definitely living in the future. Plop down someone from 2009 or even five years ago and they would barely recognize the selfie-stick, fit-chip age we’re living in today.

The Internet of Things is on its way to becoming the Internet of Everything. Smart thermostats, wearables and smart cars are all IoT features that are here to stay, and there are many more to come. According to Business Insider, by 2020, there will be 34 billion connected devices in use. And that’s a conservative estimate.
The other thing about the IoT is that the ‘I’ part of it is vital. Those 34 billion devices are useless without the Internet to provide connectivity.

At Telus, the future is friendly but when you visit their “Future Home” you are left wondering if that future will ever come if you wait for them to deliver it. They have created a 560 square foot living space that showcases the technologies that will make our lives simpler when you connect to their fibre optic network.
There are a few issues with the whole thing.
