Xbox One - Looking Backwards Makes it Better

It’s been almost 2 years since the Xbox One was released by Microsoft and it just keeps on getting better! 

With the second major update to the Xbox One since its launch, Microsoft has made the user interface better and easier to use with based on Windows 10 called the “New Xbox One Experience”. This makes the dashboard much easier to navigate and it is organized in a much more intuitive way.

Are you an Apple fanboy/girl? Do you subscribe to the bigger is better school of thought. If so then this might be the iPad for you. The iPad Pro is a very big tablet at 327.66 x 220.6 x 6.9mm and weighs 723 grams (12.9 x 8.69 x 0.27 in. and 1.59 lbs for the metrically challenged). This means that this beast really needs two hands to hold but on the good side, the screen is the size of a normal magazine.

Did you know that your broadband connection to the Internet is two-way? We often don’t consider the importance of upload speeds but it can be very important.

In the early days of computer communications we most likely used a dial-up modem to connect via a telephone line. The modem converted the digital data into an analog signal that was compatible with telephone communications. This was a single line that is referred to as a point to point connection, however you could not send and receive at the same time and you were not always connected. Speeds were very slow so new technologies were needed to enhance the scalability of data networks.

Now that Microsoft has reneged on their unlimited storage plans and downgraded their free plans where is the best deal for free cloud storage?

This week Microsoft announced that they would be scaling back both their unlimited storage monthly for Microsoft Office 365 subscribers as well as free plans for One Drive subscribers on their blog. If you subscribed to the free plan you are reduced to 5 GBs of storage from the previous 15 GBs.

Thousands gather at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to remember Canada's war dead

Johnson was flanked at the memorial by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, this year's Silver Cross Mother, Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr and other dignitaries.

At 11 a.m., all observed two minutes of silence, followed by a flypast of two Canadian Forces jets.

Convergence Conference in Calgary

This year the Convergence Conference is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Formerly known as the ATLE conference,  it was renamed the Convergence Conference to more accurately reflect its objective of bringing a variety of technical elements, staff, educators and leaders from school jurisdictions together with new technology trends in Education.

This year they have partnered with AAHEIT, which represents IT staff from Alberta Post-Secondary Institutions, representing people involved in technology, education, and leadership (the three pillars of ATLE) from Kindergarten through Post-Secondary.
